Publishing Task 3
Migration
For CA2 I got cracking on it straight after I finished CA1 in case anything went wrong and while I still had the process of how to do everything fresh in my mind. I was pretty confident about doing this CA2 however I did run into a few issues along the way. the first being with my hosting site. My domain did not want to work for some unknown reason and I had to buy another domain which also did not work I had tried to contact IFastNet to see if if the issues could be resolved but they had not gotten back to me. I eventually spent in total about 50Euro in hosting and finally one of them worked. So I started to get on with the rest of CA2, Everything went as planned and I used plug ins for making a contact form and for creating a basket and wishlist for customers who wish to purchase products off my site. I added videos, audio and galleries into my site and everything was working as I would like. That is until a few days before submission where I had gone to double check I had every requirement checked off my list on my site, this is when I noticed my hosted site had some sort of virus on it and I was unable to change anything or see my site without automatically getting taken to another shady website. I tried for days to fix it but nothing worked, this was extremely frustrating as I had finished the whole website only for it to get a virus. I did manage to have a window of about 5 minutes where my website did work and I screen recorded as much as I could just so I had a backup and proof that I did in fact do the website.
The theme I used was called "Blossoms" it fit well with my website as it was for a florist.
For migrating my website I used a plug in called "WP all in one migration" which works quite well.
the code snippets I used were ones that had a requirement for a certain length of comments on a page, mark long url comments as spam, and a return to page if the search result does not exist.
